Practical guidance for planning a clear, useful website for your business.

Planning guide

A practical checklist for your business website

Before choosing a visual style, collect the information customers need and decide what action the site should make easy.

01

Start with the visitor's next step

Decide what someone should do after visiting your website. A service business may need estimate requests; a daycare may need availability inquiries and tours. Put that next step in the navigation and repeat it where visitors have enough information to act.

02

Prepare the page content

Gather an accurate service list, the communities you cover, public business contact details and photos you own or have permission to use. A focused site often needs a homepage, service information, an about page, work examples and a contact page.

03

Review the phone experience

Read the text without zooming, open the menu, follow the main button and inspect the contact form. Keep labels visible and phone numbers easy to tap. Confirm that inquiry notifications reach the business through an approved test process.

04

Keep local details accurate

Use the real business name and contact information consistently. Describe actual services and service areas naturally. Specific local information helps visitors decide whether your business is a fit; repeating city names in every paragraph does not add useful detail.

05

Plan for ownership and upkeep

Keep domain registration in your own name, know where the site is hosted and agree who handles updates and backups. Review scope, ongoing costs and support arrangements before work begins, and understand how the site can be recovered if something goes wrong.
